Computer games can vary a lot. You can get a game for toddlers to teach them how to spell and build their logistic/creative skills. And games for adults with more gore and serious topics. There is ultimately a game for anyone. The reason why games appeal a lot to people is because firstly it's a way to relax and escape reality. Games also have a huge community of player, people with the same interests as you. In terms of psychology, the reason why games can be addictive and why so many people like them is because positive reinforcement, meaning getting rewarded for doing something right, like what you do when you train a dog, you give the dog a treat when it does a trick. You get awarded for doing tasks in a game, and because of this sense of fulfilment the player gets from being awarded, they want to keep going and get more rewards. Video games also introduced a whole new way to get money, and an industry growing rapidly over time. Streaming. Streamers are people that play and share their experience through a live video, showing the game they're playing in live and their reaction.
